In 2012 a friend and I started a project to walk, unsupported and entirely on foot, from Cardiff, Wales, to Cardiff, New South Wales, Australia.
It involved a complete traverse of the European continent, a freezing trek through Ukraine and Russia during Soviet Winter, followed by a blisteringly hot crossing of the desolate Kazakh Steppe in summer, arriving at the foot of the Tien-Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan.
There, due to various paperwork issues (and an unlawful stay in jail), I was forced home, with the plan to return to the walk at a later date.
I returned to the project in Australia to complete the walk from Perth to Cardiff (just north of Sydney).
My photos were stored with my friend’s family, and unfortunately I have yet to receive them back. The following images are recovered from a blog which I kept throughout the walk.
